Be agile to be successful

Sudeshna Datta, Vice President, Absolut Data Research & Analytics Service Company, lists five qualities a manager must posses to run a new organization successfully

1. People Management: managing and delegating work across teams in a multilingual, multi-national world of business is extremely critical and so is working effectively with cross-functional teams. As a greater number of things need to be done in shorter timeframes, leaders need to juggle tasks under various factors, be it varying time zones or industries, with extreme agility

2. Pragmatism: an effective leader must be a part of "the age of execution versus the age of information". He needs to go beyond ideas and execute them in a better way, faster and as cost-effectively as possible. He must operate with a strong vision so that all management layers perform towards a common goal in a focused and result-oriented manner.

3. Adaptability: It is extremely important for a manger to be able to quickly conform to changes-organizational or technological- at his workplace and be ready with solutions to any kind of problems within time.

4. Processing ability: some of the world’s best practices are tested with time. Success will depend on how well and fast we can develop robust processes to deliver and scale up these practices.

5. Tech-savvy: a new-age manager must be open to upgrade his or his teams’ IT/infrastructure-related knowledge and skill sets.
