We have a rich experience in research designing, survey programming and field management. Our survey programming abilities vary from simple surveys to complex surveys having dynamic segmentation, conjoint analysis etc.

Basic survey programming

We offer an exhaustive set of features in our survey programming and cover a wide range of questions in our standard surveys.

Some of the common features programmed in our surveys are:
  • Quota management features(Mutually dependent/exclusive quotas)
  • Customized look and feel like client logos and other graphical features
  • Simple skip patterns
  • Randomized responses
  • Forced response
  • Interactive error checks
  • Restricting the respondent to move back to previous questions
  • Unique URL’s for every respondent

We can program the following range of questions:
  • Single response questions
  • Multi response questions
  • Drop-down menu
  • Open-end text questions
  • Open-end numeric questions
  • Ranking/Rating questions
  • Constant Sum
  • Grid questions

Complex survey programming

We have an experience of working on around 2000 surveys and have managed some of the most complex surveys.

Some of the complex programming features implemented in our surveys are:
  • Calculating segments dynamically as per pre-defined program and using those segments for skips/logics in survey
  • Auto-generation of username/password in surveys
  • Sophisticated skip patterns i.e. branching and conditional display
  • Piping of variables/responses from previous questions
  • Grid questions with running total for rows and columns
  • Lowest count first displays or lowest read first displays
  • Inactivation of selected questions as per pre-defined logic
  • Highly interactive error checks, especially in pricing studies
  • Programming multiple conjoints in a survey (through linked studies)
  • Re-directing respondents dynamically through multiple studies
  • Advanced quota implementation through databases

Multi-lingual Surveys

We have an experience of working on wide range of languages which has helped us serve the researchers across the globe.
  • Ability to program the surveys in more than 15 foreign languages (Non-English)
  • Experience in handling surveys in key languages across the globe exp. German, Dutch, Spanish, French, Turkish, Russian, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Korean, Vietnamese, Portuguese etc. and other languages with multi byte characters.
  • Availability of translators for quick translations in any language.
  • A wide network of partners across Europe, Asia and Latin America to ensure smooth rendering of services without geographical constraints.

Surveys with embedded video/audio clips and images

We have the capability of extracting more accurate information from our respondents by making our surveys interesting and visually attractive. Our surveys are far more responsive than Telephone or Mail surveys since we can include graphics, audio, video, animations etc.
  • Ability to program the surveys with embedded video/audio clips as well as images
  • We make sure that content download doesn’t affect the response rate, as we keep the multi-media content lower in size without affecting quality
  • Ability to handle multiple file formats like WMA, MPEG, and MP3 etc.
  • Ability to implement additional functionalities like playing a clip for selected number of times etc.

Conjoint Analysis and Discrete Choice Programming

We are market leaders in designing and programming conjoints with complicated attributes and scenarios. We can generate intelligently designed conjoints and can handle multiple attributes across different levels. Infact, our team of experts frequently stretches the capabilities of the best in class software they use to handle multi level complexities.

At AbsolutData, we have the experience to work on various types of conjoints like:
  • ACA
  • CBC (Automated/Manual)
  • Max-Diff Analysis

ACA (Adaptive Conjoint Analysis)

Adaptive conjoint analysis (ACA) is used for collecting maximum information about the respondent’s preferences by way of a computer administered interview. As part of the ACA technique, the interview or survey needs to be customized for each respondent, such that at each step, the previous answer given by the respondent is used to decide the next question.

The ACA technique is frequently used for product design and segmentation research, where the number of attributes exceeds six. The good thing about ACA is that it does not burden the respondent with excessive attributes about the product at any one time. It focuses on the attributes that are most relevant to the respondents at that point of time. ACA can include maximum 30 attributes, although a typical project involves about 8 to 15 attributes. ACA is also an interactive conjoint method ideal for cases with more than six attributes, which become complicated to handle with other conjoint methods like CBC.

CBC (Choice Based Conjoint Analysis)

CBC, or the Choice Based Conjoint Analysis simply shows a set of product concepts to the respondents (with an optional “none” alternative), asking them to choose the concept they prefer, rather than rate or rank the complete set.

CBC is the most widely used conjoint-related approach today, as it very closely simulates buyer behavior in the marketplace. Respondents can very easily identify with and understand the task of choosing a preferred product from a group of products. The “None” option enables the respondent to contribute information about an expected response resulting from specific market/product activities.

Also, CBC makes it feasible to quantify interactions because the data collected is analyzed by pooling or borrowing information across respondents. We can set product-or alternative-specific attribute levels which enable a study of required product/attribute changes to get desired buyer behavior.

We also have the capability to program manual CBC with pre-decided number of attributes & levels and other customizations.

Max-Diff Analysis

MaxDiff, or Maximum Difference Scaling, is a research approach used to measure respondent’s preferences for different products. Compared to other research approaches like choice based conjoint analysis, maxdiff is easier-to-use as well as easier to analyze and is applicable to a wider variety of research situations.

MaxDiff involves showing the respondents a set of products, and asking them to classify them in terms of maximum and minimum importance or preferences (best or worst).

Typically, maxdiff is ideal for the following types of research situations:
  • Identifying important attributes for an organization to improve employee retention.
  • Brand Studies – identifying important attributes for a brand to improve their customer base.
  • Product packaging – identifying important attributes for a new product package deployment like the look and feel, design, portability, accessibility, costing and attractiveness etc.

Maxdiff is the preferred technique of conjoint analysis for performing key driver analysis. Also, in cases where extreme respondent choices (best and worst) are necessary to perform analysis, maxdiff is best suited.

During our extensive experience of designing and implementing conjoint surveys, we have successfully delivered on the following complexities:
  • Present conjoint attributes depending upon previous question’s responses
  • Priority based displays, where particular attributes are given priority in display
  • Conjoints involving pricing based calculations
  • Incorporate graphics (images and logos), audio and video content in conjoint layouts
  • We can program multiple types of conjoints like Select One Model (where a respondent has to select one of the displayed offers) or a Percentage Allocation Model (where a respondent has to provide weights to all of the displayed offers)
  • We can program multiple conjoints in a survey and can direct respondents randomly to desired conjoint.

In addition to programming various types of conjoints, AbsolutData offers some other services related to conjoint analysis:
  • Conjoint/Discrete Choice Model Estimation - Estimate the model parameters using advanced modeling techniques such as Latent Class Segmentation and Hierarchical Bayes Estimation.
  • Choice Simulator - User-friendly simulation interface to conduct what-if analyses utilizing the conjoint analysis results. The simulator can be programmed using Excel or Sawtooth SMRT software.
