It’s been a bad couple of years for the hospitality industry. What alternative revenue sources are some hotels trying out? We examine the trends and possibilities in this article.

AI, Technology, Data

What can we expect from AI in the coming years? In 2022, we can assume that there will be ongoing AI and tech growth in several business areas. Specifically, expect to see the way we use AI continue to evolve as we move towards a more comprehensive, ethical, and holistic approach to tech strategy.

5 AI and Tech Trends to Watch Ahead

Responsible and Ethical AI

Although it has proved its usefulness, AI has also incurred a lot of negative feedback for its lack of context and sensitivity. This can range from fairly benign missteps (like recommending enterprise-level software to a small business) to racist and sexist results. Thus, expect to see more emphasis on building non-discriminatory systems.

In a related topic, ethical AI – where values like the right to privacy and clear, honest communication are part of the system’s very fabric – will also continue to be a major theme in the industry. Look for the dialog on what is and is not acceptable to become more defined as companies and AI providers alike try to reach a balance between data usefulness and respecting individual rights.

Democratized AI

AI has been in the workplace for a while now, and it’s no longer unusual to see teams using dashboards and tools underpinned by one of its subdisciplines. After such an effective entrance, we can expect to see AI usage continue to rise and to spread across companies and teams of all sizes. This is especially true as more Gen Zers enter the workforce, adding to the already tech-friendly Millennial wave.

Next-Gen AI

As we often note, AI has numerous subdisciplines (machine learning, natural language processing, machine vision, etc.) and an almost limitless number of applications. Over the next year, look for improvements in natural language understanding and related techniques that will allow machines to better interpret our spoken, written, and visual cues. AI conversational agents should become more accurate and demonstrate a more thorough comprehension of human language input.

Some experts also look for AI to play a big role in the metaverse, specifically in the creation of synthetic data. Others look for AI to develop its creative capabilities, moving beyond generating commercials, movie trailers, and simulated symphonies and coming up with its own inventions.

Web, Data, and Cybersecurity Integration

Although this is three separate integrations (using AI to better manage the worldwide web, handle data integration, and provide inclusive cybersecurity) the underlying concept is similar for all of them. AI – along with decentralized, de-siloed data and advances in networking and data transfer technologies – will make these things faster, more efficient, and more cohesive.

‘Reusable’ AI

This is more about how AI is designed and built. In software development, there’s a strong emphasis on using time-saving best practices like reusable ‘containerized’ code modules. Look for the very process behind AI tools itself become more efficient and streamlined; this should bring potential benefits down the line to the end users, as well.

What Will You Do with AI in 2022?

We’ve already seen significant progress both in the adoption of AI and in its capabilities. In 2022, expect to see more AI-powered tools enter the province of the business user, leading to faster decisions and shorter processes. As we watch to see how the above-mentioned trends develop, it will be extremely interesting to see the growth of AI over the next 12 months!
